Is it possible to lose close to 100 lbs in 6 months without surgery?
How can someone lose so much weight in such a short time when most people struggle to lose 15 to 20 pounds? Is that possible?
The answer is yes. It is indeed possible to lose 100 lbs in 6 months without bariatric surgery. Mr. Lebel is the proof – you can hear his story in the short video attached to this blog.
Mr. Lebel started his weight loss program weighing 384,3 lbs in June 2017. By December 2017, he reached a weight of 285 lbs and by the beginning of April 2018, he weighed 255 lbs.
How did he accomplish that?
The trigger :
Mr. Lebel was suffering from debilitating arthritis of his knees as well as from chronic pain due to 3 herniated discs in his lower back. He could barely move around due to the pain which made it worse for him in terms of weight gain. He was so heavy that he had trouble with his gait and equilibrium. His weight was affecting his life in all aspects including his ability to perform in his work at the level he was used to. He was down, depressed and feeling like he had reached rock-bottom. That was the trigger. He realized that he had lost his quality-of-life and unless he took matters into his own hands the good days were over for him.
The decision to join our Zero Excuse GO program :
Previously, Mr. Lebel had tried many different diets. However, he was unsuccessful in reaching his target weight and more importantly he was unable to maintain the weight he lost. He understood that these failures were due to the fact that he did not really change his lifestyle, so that as soon as he stopped dieting he would regain the weight.
Mr. Lebel understood himself well enough to know that he needed a program where he would be followed on a daily basis, because he knew that he could easily cheat and deviate from his plan. Mr. Lebel wanted a program that addressed all aspects of obesity, not only nutrition, but the fitness component and the mental or psychological component as well. Lastly, Mr. Lebel wanted a program that was easy to follow. He realized that losing 150 lbs is not an easy task and that if he chose a program that lacked sufficient support and structure he would not be able to follow through with it and would give up.
For all these reasons, Mr. Lebel chose to join the Zero Excuse GO program with one objective in mind: to learn how to adopt a healthy lifestyle which would help him lose his excess weight and maintain his target weight in the long run.
The journey :
At the beginning of the program, Mr. Lebel was set up with our cutting-edge telemedicine technology using both remote patient monitoring and secured videoconferencing. He was given a fitness tracker to wear on his wrist and a digital scale to install in his bathroom. We uploaded different applications on his smart phone and “voila!” Mr. Lebel’s data concerning his weight, his number of daily steps, his minutes of exercise, his hours of sleep, and his expenditure of calories were being transferred effortlessly directly to our clinic, in real time and on a continuous basis. We were following his progress daily without him having to do anything but to step on his scale and wear his watch. This helped him stay focused and on track with minimal deviation. A multidisciplinary team consisting of a dietitian, a fitness trainer, as well as a psychologist specializing in weight loss started to interact with him on a weekly basis through secured videoconferencing. Mr. Lebel was being coached, educated, trained and motivated without having to waste time fighting the traffic, fighting the weather, or fighting to find a parking spot. He was seeing all these professionals in the comfort of his own home, while visiting his team for face-to-face visits in the clinic when it was convenient for him.
The results :
Mr. Lebel followed the Zero Excuse GO program and had the remarkable success mentioned above. He was given all the tools necessary to achieve this success. He learned from his past mistakes with other weight loss programs and benefited from a more complete program that answered all his needs. The results speak for themselves.
Today, Mr. Lebel is a new man. His debilitating back and knee pain are practically gone. He is proud, confident and full of energy. He exercises 5 to 7 times a week, plays hockey three times a week, runs regularly and just registered for a 10 km race in May. What an accomplishment! What a turnaround! Not bad for a (formerly) 385 lbs man!
His advice to others:
Start! Start today and stop procrastinating!
